Managing Permissions on a Nominode

In the Permissions section of your Nominode, you can control what actions each user of your Nominode can perform.  A general description of Permissions architecture can be found in the Nominode Permissions Overview support document.

Viewing and Modifying which Users are assigned to your Nominode

  1. Expand the Admin section at the bottom of the left hand navigation menu of your Nominode.
  2. Click on Permissions in the left hand navigation menu.
  3. Click on Users on the left hand side of the Permissions page.
  4. User names that have been added to your Nominode and the groups they are a member of are displayed in the User List.
  5. Click on the User Management button in the upper right hand corner of the User List to manage your users.
  6. Click on the OK button in the confirmation window.

Updating a User’s Nominode specific details

  1. Expand the Admin section at the bottom of the left hand navigation menu of your Nominode.
  2. Click on Permissions in the left hand navigation menu.
  3. Click on Users on the left hand side of the Permissions page.
  4. Click on the User Name of the User whose details you want to update.
  5. You can modify the User’s avatar image and their first and last name.
  6. Click on the Update Information button to save the modifications that you have made.

Creating a Project

  1. Expand the Admin section at the bottom of the left hand navigation menu of your Nominode.
  2. Click on Permissions in the left hand navigation menu.
  3. Click on Projects on the left hand side of the Permissions page.
  4. Click on the plus (+) button at the top of the Project List.
  5. Add an Abbreviation (short unique identifier), Alias (name) and a Description in the Create Project dialog.
  6. Optionally, you can add an avatar image for your Project, as well.
  7. Click on the Submit button.
  8. An Admin Role with full access to all resources associated with your Project is automatically generated.
  9. You will be directed to the Details page for your new Project so that you can create additional Roles.

Editing a Project

  1. Expand the Admin section at the bottom of the left hand navigation menu of your Nominode.
  2. Click on Permissions in the left hand navigation menu.
  3. Click on Projects on the left hand side of the Permissions page.
  4. You can use the search field in the upper right hand corner of the section to filter the Project List.
  5. Click on the alias for your Project in the list or click on the View link in the same row.
  6. Click on the Edit button in the upper right hand corner of the Project Details page.
  7. Edit the Abbreviation (short unique identifier), Alias (name), Description and avatar image as desired.
  8. Click on the Submit button.

Creating a Role in a Project

  1. Expand the Admin section at the bottom of the left hand navigation menu of your Nominode.
  2. Click on Permissions in the left hand navigation menu.
  3. Click on Projects on the left hand side of the Permissions page.
  4. You can use the search field in the upper right hand corner of the section to filter the Project List.
  5. Click on the Project alias in the list or the View link on the same row as the Project alias.
  6. Click on the plus (+) button at the top of the Project Roles list.
  7. Fill out the Role Name and Description fields in the Role Create dialog.
  8. Select the resources that you want the Role to grant access to in the Available list under Resources.
  9. Click on the (> add) button next to the Available list to move the selected resources to the Current list under Resources.
  10. Select the actions in Current list under Actions that you want the Role to be able to perform on the resources that you selected.
  11. Click on the (> add) button next to the Available list to move the selected actions to the Current list under Actions.
  12. Click on the Submit button.

Viewing a Role in a Project

  1. Expand the Admin section at the bottom of the left hand navigation menu of your Nominode.
  2. Click on Permissions in the left hand navigation menu.
  3. Click on Projects on the left hand side of the Permissions page.
  4. You can use the search field in the upper right hand corner of the section to filter the Project List.
  5. Click on the Project alias in the list or the View link on the same row as the Project alias.
  6. Click on the Role Name in the Project Roles list on the Project Details page or click on the View link in the same row.
  7. A Policy Details dialog will display a list of resources and the actions the Role is allow to perform on them in JSON format.
  8. Click on the OK button.

Editing a Role in a Project

  1. Expand the Admin section at the bottom of the left hand navigation menu of your Nominode.
  2. Click on Permissions in the left hand navigation menu.
  3. Click on Projects on the left hand side of the Permissions page.
  4. You can use the search field in the upper right hand corner of the section to filter the Project List.
  5. Click on the Project alias in the list or the View link on the same row as the Project alias.
  6. Click on the Edit link next to the Role Name in the Project Roles list on the Project Details page.
  7. Modify the Role Name and Description fields in the Role Update dialog, if desired.
  8. Use the (> add) and (< remove) buttons to adjust the resources and actions as desired.
  9. Click on the Submit button.

Deleting a Role in a Project

  1. Expand the Admin section at the bottom of the left hand navigation menu of your Nominode.
  2. Click on Permissions in the left hand navigation menu.
  3. Click on Projects on the left hand side of the Permissions page.
  4. You can use the search field in the upper right hand corner of the section to filter the Project List.
  5. Click on the Project alias in the list or the View link on the same row as the Project alias.
  6. Click on the Delete link next to the Role Name in the Project Roles list on the Project Details page.
  7. Click on the Delete button in the Delete Role confirmation dialog.

Deleting a Project

  1. Expand the Admin section at the bottom of the left hand navigation menu of your Nominode.
  2. Click on Permissions in the left hand navigation menu.
  3. Click on Projects on the left hand side of the Permissions page.
  4. You can use the search field in the upper right hand corner of the section to filter the Project List.
  5. Click on the Project alias in the list or the View link on the same row as the Project alias.
  6. Ensure that all of the Roles associated with the Project have been deleted, including the Admin role that was automatically added during Project creation.
  7. Click on the Delete button in the upper right hand corner of the Project Details page.
  8. Click on the OK button in the confirmation dialog.
  9. Note that the deletion will not be permitted if Roles still exist in the Project.

Creating a Group

  1. Expand the Admin section at the bottom of the left hand navigation menu of your Nominode.
  2. Click on Permissions in the left hand navigation menu.
  3. Click on Groups on the left hand side of the Permissions page.
  4. Click on the plus (+) button at the top of the Group List.
  5. Add a Name and Description in the Create Group dialog.
  6. Optionally, you can add an avatar image for your Group, as well.
  7. Click on the Submit button.
  8. You will be directed to the Details page for your new Group so that you can add Users and Roles.

Editing a Group

  1. Expand the Admin section at the bottom of the left hand navigation menu of your Nominode.
  2. Click on Permissions in the left hand navigation menu.
  3. Click on Groups on the left hand side of the Permissions page.
  4. You can use the search field in the upper right hand corner of the section to filter the Group List.
  5. Click on the name of your Group in the list or click on the View link in the same row.
  6. Click on the Edit button in the upper right hand corner of the Group Details page.
  7. Edit the Name, Description and avatar image as desired.
  8. Click on the Submit button.

Modifying Users assigned to a Group

  1. Expand the Admin section at the bottom of the left hand navigation menu of your Nominode.
  2. Click on Permissions in the left hand navigation menu.
  3. Click on Groups on the left hand side of the Permissions page.
  4. You can use the search field in the upper right hand corner of the section to filter the Group List.
  5. Click on the name of your Group in the list or click on the View link in the same row.
  6. Click on the Users tab in the User/Role Bindings section.
  7. Select one or more User names in the Available list that you want to be members of the Group.
  8. Click on the (> add) button between the lists to move the selected Users to the Current list.
  9. Select one or more User names in the Current list that you want to remove from the Group membership.
  10. Click on the (< remove) button between the lists to move the selected Users to the Available list.
  11. Click on the Update button.
  12. Review the changes that will be made in the confirmation dialog and then click on the OK button.

Modifying Roles assigned to a Group

  1. Expand the Admin section at the bottom of the left hand navigation menu of your Nominode.
  2. Click on Permissions in the left hand navigation menu.
  3. Click on Groups on the left hand side of the Permissions page.
  4. You can use the search field in the upper right hand corner of the section to filter the Group List.
  5. Click on the name of your Group in the list or click on the View link in the same row.
  6. Click on the Roles tab in the User/Role Bindings section.
  7. Select one or more Role names in the Available list that you want to be assigned to the Group.
  8. Click on the (> add) button between the lists to move the selected Roles to the Current list.
  9. Select one or more Role names in the Current list that you want to unassign from the Group.
  10. Click on the (< remove) button between the lists to move the selected Roles to the Available list.
  11. Click on the Update button.
  12. Review the changes that will be made in the confirmation dialog and then click on the OK button.

Deleting a Group

  1. Expand the Admin section at the bottom of the left hand navigation menu of your Nominode.
  2. Click on Permissions in the left hand navigation menu.
  3. Click on Groups on the left hand side of the Permissions page.
  4. You can use the search field in the upper right hand corner of the section to filter the Group List.
  5. Click on the name of your Group in the list or click on the View link in the same row.
  6. Ensure that all of the Users and Roles assigned to the Group have been removed.
  7. Click on the Delete button in the upper right hand corner of the Group Details page.
  8. Click on the OK button in the confirmation dialog.
  9. Note that the deletion will not be permitted if Users or Roles are still assigned to the Group.
